  1. Formative evaluation. We conduct 2 site visits to each project where we interview project staff and teacher participants, and observe project activities. We also collect demographic information about participants and administer a Teacher Satisfaction Survey at 2 points during the project.

  2. Summative evaluation: Summative evaluation is based on the model by Medina et al., 2000 in an evaluation of history teacher professional development in California. We are attempting to make the link between teacher learning in the professional development project, teacher classroom practices, and student achievement.

    Scheme

    In particular, in collaboration with project PIs, we collect summative data about: a) teacher science content knowledge; b) teacher knowledge and use of inquiry-based pedagogy; c) student achievement, and d) impact on higher education.
